Public Service

Community Engagement

Passionate about serving the needs of county residents and fostering community connections. Terry has served the community of Two Hills as a Paramedic for 20 years, developing a deep understanding of the collaborative spirit that serves the needs of county residents through the efforts of police, fire fighting, health services and EMS. Recently Terry was the recipient of the Kings Coronation Medal in recognition of his years of service and community engagement, which was a great honour.

Leadership Roles

Team Collaboration

Demonstrating leadership in various collaborative endeavors and community initiatives. Terry has been involved in various youth sports as a coach or volunteer board member. Terry also has extensive experience as the member and chairperson for numerous boards and committees, both personally and professionally. Through this experience Terry has found great satisfaction in seeing quality improvements brought to life, as well as the opportunity to help others reach their goals.

Advocacy Work

Champion for Change

Terry continues to advocate for policies, systems and programs that address community concerns and promote development at the local level by harnessing the collaborative strength with partners at the provincial and national level. Terry has experience advocating for Paramedic services within the Alberta healthcare landscape, serving on various committees and stakeholder groups, as well as nationally (through the Paramedic Chiefs of Canada) on parliament hill. Terry is very excited to bring his voice of advocacy to the role of County Councillor.

Volunteer Efforts

Grassroots Involvement

Actively engaged in volunteer work to support local organizations and events. Terry has served in a variety of youth sports roles including coaching both soccer and hockey as well as various volunteer boards including the representative for minor hockey on the Sports Activity Council, long serving Chairperson of the Two Hills Fellowship Chapel, and the Chairperson of the National Board of One Hope Canada. Terry also volunteers at Whitney Lake Bible camp in addition to many volunteer committees in the Paramedic Industry.

Building Stronger Communities

Focused on initiatives that improve the living standards and opportunities for all. Life in Rural Alberta has unique challenges and opportunities. Growing up and living in rural Alberta, Terry has a good understanding of these challenges and opportunities. Terry is committed to representing these diverse needs and advocating for increasing or improving services for county residents who need support to thrive.

Local Governance

Policy Implementation

Experienced in navigating political processes to support effective governance. Terry has had a keen interest and involvement in politics at the local, provincial and national level his whole adult life. Terry is committed to being a strong voice for the residents of Division three, while working with council and administration to find collaborative solutions for all county residents. Terry leans on his professional and personal political experience, as well as his education where he studied with a focus on municipal governance (Bachelor of Public Administration).

Academic/Professional Background

Leadership Experience

Terry has served as the General Manager of a complex health services company since 2016. Terry has also served in a variety of roles as a health leadership stakeholder including the chairman of the Program Advisory Committee for the paramedic program as NAIT, and as a member of the Alberta EMS Advisory Committee, which delivered a report to government on the necessary improvements needed to improve the Ambulance System in Alberta. Terry has also been proud to serve as the Chairman for the National Board at One Hope Canada, and a volunteer board member for 10 years, and he continues to serve as the Chairman of the Two Hills Fellowship Chapel Board.

Community Development

As a longstanding member of the Two Hills Community, Terry has a solid grasp of local issues and opportunities. Terry has a focus on creating long term, sustainable plans for growth, as well as a commitment to finding innovative ways to support existing community partners. Terry has participated in workshops about community engagement and development, and Terry and his family are proud residents of Two Hills County for the past 20 years. 

Ongoing Learning

While Terry grew up in rural Alberta, and has had the benefit of extensive professional, and political opportunities, Terry remains committed to continuing to learn and grow by challenging himself to always keep learning more. In 2016 Terry received a Diploma in Business Administration from MacEwan University and in 2022, a Bachelor of Public Administration from Thompson Rivers University. Terry continually seeks new information and knowledge to better serve and advocate for the residents of the County of Two Hills.
