Terry's Priorities
There are many priorities that need the attention of council. It is always important to Terry that you feel free to raise the issues that are most important to you, so that they can be captured and represented to council and administration. Community First
As your Councillor for Division Three in the County of Two Hills, Terry will work tireless to find solutions that hold the best interests of the residents and our community in the center of everything we do. Our rural community has some unique challenges and it is critical that we continue to bring about programs, projects and ideas that will provide the maximum benefit for County residents, in order to continue to provide the supports and environment that county residents need to be successful. This means we need safe and well maintained roads and bridges, appropriate and accessible services such as landfill and transfer sites, ensuring adequate supports are there for our agricultural producers, supporting responsible and efficient development of our natural resources, and enhancing public safety through effective policing, health services and supportive community programs and servicves.
Sustainability

These days, times are tough for many individuals and families. The cost of living continues to climb and it is difficult to stretch each dollar to cover all the needs. At the same time, the world continues to pursue increasing levels of environmentally sustainable processes. This is a difficult, but important balance to strike. Terry believes that it is important for your county council to support the conditions for individuals and businesses to find success. This is done through fostering economic growth by supporting local businesses and job creation. While promoting sustainable practices to protect our environment for future generations. It is critical that the County administration remains thoughtful about how your tax dollars are being used. Terry is committed to working with council and administration to ensure decisions are made with consideration for sustainability and long term success for all.
Before your interests can be represented forward, your perspective needs to be understood. Through personal, political and professional experience, Terry has had many opportunites to engage in many topics and ideas (simple and complex), and his first priority is to "seek first to understand". Only with a good understanding of the issue, the root cause, the internal and external factors, and the potential resolutions, can we truly expect to find meaningful and lasting solutions. Terry is a strong believer in the hope for a brighter tomorrow, meaning that through thoughtful collaboration and good faith effort of the whole, we can build a future together that is better for all residents of the County of Two Hills. Open Governance
Setting effective policy direction is an important element for how municipal governments operate in a fair and consistent manner. As such, it is important that the policies set by your county council are well thought out, easy to understand, and effective at delivering consistent and desirable results. It is also important that regular reviews are conducted to ensure that policies remain up to date and are reflective of the current needs of the residents of the County of Two Hills. If there are county policies that are confusing, or are no longer relevant, it is important that those issues are given a voice and council and administration are doing the work to provide clear and effective leadership through responsible policy development and updating.
As your Councillor for Division Three, Terry understands that residents place a high degree of trust in their elected officials, expecting that they are working hard to lead in ways that are improving the lives of the people they serve. Terry does not take this lightly and he believes that having healthy levels of accountability are important to fostering a culture of trust. Terry is well known for working hard, and holding a high standard of integrity. Terry also enjoys interacting with county residents and is committed that when he is elected to council, he will distribute regular communications to residents through different means including face-to-face townhall meetings, newsletters, website updates, social media sharing and phone calls or emails. Terry is committed to ensuring transparency in local government operations and decision-making to ensure accountability to you the voter.
